Early yesterday, a Healdsburg Police Department (HPD) patrol responded to a reported vehicle accident at the crossing of First St. and Piper St. Officers discovered a car that had collided with a curb, blaring loud music with its driver and passenger unconscious inside. Authorities promptly called for medical assistance as a precaution.
Upon regaining consciousness, the driver exhibited signs that suggested intoxication from a substance. HPD officers launched an exhaustive search of the vehicle to detain the driver on a DUI charge eventually. The subsequent search of the car led to uncovering a sizable quantity of illegal drugs, which resulted in both the driver and passenger being booked for possession, intent to distribute, and having drug paraphernalia. According to the Healdsburg Police Department's report, officers seized 78.9 grams of methamphetamine along with 7.31 lbs of marijuana.
Ryan Roy Downey, 35, from Covelo, and Courtney Luscko Hamilton, 40, from Ukiah, found themselves facing multiple charges, including felony drug possession. Downey, the driver, faces additional misdemeanor charges for marijuana possession for sale, unlawful drug paraphernalia, controlled substance possession, and a DUI drug offense. Hamilton, the passenger, faces similar misdemeanor charges sans the DUI.
