A bicyclist was killed in a crash with a dumpster truck at Warm Springs Road and Parkson Road in Henderson yesterday afternoon, according to the City of Henderson Police Department.

The incident occurred at around 4:41 p.m., when, according to police reports, a white 2007 Sterling garbage dumpster truck was traveling east along Warm Springs Road, and the bicyclist, who was on an electric hybrid bicycle, attempted to navigate past a construction barricade in the closed bicycle lane, subsequently the bicyclist's front tire hit the barricade base, leading to a fall that placed him in the truck's destructive path. The 23-year-old rider was transported to Sunrise Trauma Hospital in serious condition but later died, authorities have yet to release the victim's name, pending notification of next of kin, as reported by the City of Henderson Police Department.

Henderson Police confirmed that the truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, with further details withheld due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, it has been clarified that neither impairment nor speed are considered factors in this tragic event. The investigation was assisted by the Nevada Highway Patrol, which performed a Commercial Vehicle Inspection on the garbage truck involved in the accident.
