A Hernando County firefighter was hospitalized after responding to a blaze in Brooksville yesterday night. As reported by FOX 13, firefighters were met with flames shooting through the roof of a mobile home on Sunshine Grove Road upon their arrival.
Firefighting efforts were hampered by a series of obstructions at the scene, which included difficult access to doors and windows and the presence of "a large amount of ammunition," obstructing the firefighters' ability to safely navigate the premises, as stated by Hernando County Fire Rescue. During the firefighting operations, the affected firefighter was taken to the hospital for reasons yet to be disclosed, according to FOX 13.
Despite the hazardous conditions, the fire was brought under control within an hour. While the home was destroyed, WTSP has confirmed that there were no civilian injuries reported.
The investigation into the fire's cause is still ongoing, but significant efforts are being made, according to Pasco News.
