Tragedy compounded by criminal activity is the stark narrative coming out of Robinsonville, Mississippi, where two individuals face charges after allegedly stealing a gun from the scene of a fatal car accident. The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office reported that they responded to the two-vehicle collision on Monday at the intersection of Casino Strip Extended and Kirby Road, as noted by Action News 5. The crash led to the unfortunate deaths of two local residents, identified as Nicholas Paul Stafford, 29, and Ruby Gene Watney, 36.
During the course of the investigation, Tunica County sheriff’s deputies uncovered that a firearm had been stolen from the wreckage. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Jonathan Parr, 59, and Christina Brumback, 42, both from Hernando, MS. Parr is charged with possession of a stolen firearm and being a felon in possession of a stolen firearm, meanwhile, Brumback faces charges as an accessory after the fact. The details were confirmed by WREG.
Both suspects were taken into custody within 48 hours following the crash and are now held at the Tunica County jail as the investigation continues. The sheriff's office has not detailed how Parr and Brumback came in contact with, or when they actually took possession of the gun. This information echoes a statement obtained by FOX13 Memphis, which added that the Tunica County Sheriff's Office did recover the stolen firearm.
