
The Hawai‘i Police Department is calling out to the public in Hilo for any leads on an assault case that left a visiting 64-year-old male with significant injuries. The incident, a violent altercation on the 100 block of Keawe Street, occurred on September 6, just before the clock struck eleven at night, according to the Hawai‘i Police Department.
In attempting to diffuse the situation between the belligerents, the well-meaning victim was met with violence instead and suffered an assault involving a choke-hold. Speaking of the victim, he was transported to the hospital seeing that the altercation took a toll, specifically to Hilo Benioff Medical Center, where he was treated for his substantial bodily injuries.
With the suspects still at large, detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section are spearheading the search, urging any witnesses or individuals with knowledge about the incident to step forward and help this open investigation.
