Houston Authorities Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run on Bissonnet Road, Suspect at Large

Authorities are currently investigating the events that led up to a deadly hit-and-run incident in Houston. According to an announcement posted on the City of Houston's official news site, a 42-year-old man met a tragic end whilst crossing 9700 Bissonnet Road at around 8:05 a.m. yesterday. While his name awaits confirmation from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, the hit-and-run driver responsible for the fatality is still at large.

The investigation, spearheaded by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division's Sergeant K. Harris and Officer A. Hart, has thus far revealed that the man was struck by an unidentified vehicle as he crossed the street, outside the bounds of a crosswalk. In the aftermath of this first collision, the man was hit anew by a gray Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Nissan, a 27-year-old female, stopped to call 9-1-1 and assist until paramedics transported the man to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Further details have proven elusive, the primary suspect having fled the scene without attempting to render any aid. Meanwhile, the Nissan's driver was found not to be impaired, and after questioning was released, her compliance with the situation set her apart from the absent perpetrator.
