Early this morning, a high-speed chase came to a crashing halt on Almeda Road in Houston, resulting in the arrest of several burglary and robbery suspects, though one remains elusive. The chase, involving both Houston and Pearland police, ended near the 9600 block of Almeda Road when the suspects' vehicle collided and was rendered inoperable, FOX 26 Houston reported.
According to details from FOX 26 Houston report, the pursued vehicle, which crashed, contained stolen items, weapons, and notably, an AR-15 rifle. One suspect attempted to flee by jumping over a rail, striking a police vehicle, and then running toward Holmes Road; however, despite an extensive search in the area, authorities have not been able to locate the individual.
The incident began with officers from the Houston Police Department and Pearland police in pursuit of the vehicle linked to multiple felony burglaries and robberies. The drama unfolded around 3:00 a.m. and resulted in multiple arrests, with the exception of one suspect who remains at large.
Authorities found not just an AR-15 pistol in the vehicle, but also evidence linking the group to at least four burglaries. The exact details and timeline of their criminal activities are still being investigated, CW39 elaborates. The identities of those in custody have not been released, but they are being held on multiple charges.
