Harris County Deputy Constable and Woman Found Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide

Tragedy struck Houston's west side yesterday when Houston police discovered the bodies of a Harris County deputy constable and a woman, who were both fatally shot in what might be a murder-suicide. According to The Houston Chronicle, the incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. in the 14500 block of Briar Forest Drive. A neighbor called the police after hearing gunfire in her apartment.

Determined to find the source of the disturbance, officers entered an upstairs unit and were greeted with an alarming scene: a woman found in the living room with multiple gunshot wounds, and a man located in the bedroom with what detectives suspect to be a self-inflicted wound. The two had only recently nested in the community as per FOX 26 Houston, stated by a witness confiding this detail to investigators.

The deputy constable, whose name has not been released to the public, was identified as having worked with Precinct 4 for approximately a year, patrolling the night shift in the central district. Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman shared, with The Houston Chronicle, the deputy's transition from the Houston Police Department to his current role. The investigation remains active, though details around the motive and circumstances leading to the tragedy remain unclear.
