A 19-year-old man, Francisco Javier Ochoa, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old woman, Joselyn Espinoza. According to a City of Houston news release, the incident took place in a motel parking lot located in the 15000 block of Mesa Drive.
Details emerged when officers, responding to a call, found the victim with a gunshot wound at St. Joseph Medical Center. Espinoza was transported by private vehicle to the medical center around 2:45 a.m. on September 15, before being moved to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Ochoa's involvement in the case was determined through the course of the investigation by HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Persad and Detective L. Gonzales. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was subsequently contacted, leading to the charges brought against Ochoa.
Last Friday, Ochoa turned himself in at the Harris County Jail. After the surrender, he was then booked into the facility. An official booking photo of Francisco Javier Ochoa was released alongside the aforementioned news report.
