A 44-year-old man, Juan Gonzalez, Jr., has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder for his alleged involvement in two separate fatal shootings in 2007 and 2008, Gonzalez is implicated in the death of Richard Lee Ambriz, 46, over a decade prior, and in a subsequent incident that claimed the life of 15-year-old Kevin Alfred, according to a news release by the City of Houston.
The first incident, a home invasion reportedly involving Gonzalez and five other suspects, resulted in Ambriz being shot to death on January 2, 2007, and over a year later, on March 12, 2008, Alfred was killed after an argument escalated on Super Street, where a suspect, now identified as Gonzalez, fired the fatal shots, the investigation led by the HPD Homicide Division revealed Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Detective R. Cervantes, officers on the case provided critical details of these tragic events.
Charges were filed against Gonzalez on March 18, 2008, for his alleged role in the street confrontation that ended Alfred's life, and he faced additional charges for the 2007 home invasion shooting on July 23, 2008. Yet, it wasn't until a recent tip led U.S. Marshals and FBI Houston offices to his location in Morelos, Mexico, that law enforcement succeeded in apprehending him on August 31, as detailed by the City of Houston News.
Gonzalez was flown back to Houston the following day in swift coordination between international and federal agencies, was questioned, and thereafter booked into the Harris County Jail.
