A man has been arrested and charged following a violent altercation that evolved into a stabbing and shooting on Sunday evening at a residence in Houston. The incident, which left one woman injured and the suspect hospitalized with a gunshot wound, took place at approximately 6:40 p.m. at 13910 Nitida Street.
Authorities identified the suspect as 40-year-old Keith Levale Strange, who is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as reported by the City of Houston News. Due to being admitted to the hospital, law enforcement has not released a booking photo of Strange.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a domestic dispute, which escalated when Strange was asked to leave the home. "Strange then stabbed the victim, a family member, with a kitchen knife and lunged at the victim’s husband with the knife," according to HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective A. Chheav's statement obtained by the City of Houston News. In a defensive reaction, the victim's husband shot Strange once.
Both the unnamed female victim and Strange were taken to the hospital in stable condition. The woman received medical care for her stab wound, which did not result in life-threatening injuries. The circumstances surrounding the argument and subsequent violence are being investigated, and prosecutors have charged Strange in connection to the incident.
