A grim scene unfolded in Houston's Fourth Ward when a man was found fatally shot inside a townhome. According to ABC13, Houston Police Department officers conducted a welfare check around 7 p.m. yesterday at a residence located in the 1400 block of Cook Street. The request for the welfare check came after relatives had not heard from the man in several days.
Upon entry to the home, which police described as having an unlocked front door, they discovered the man deceased with gunshot wounds. Click2Houston reports that investigators are currently pursuing leads, including any potential witnesses and surveillance footage that might illuminate the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
The identity of the man has not yet been released pending next of kin notification. Police have cordoned off the area as the HPD's homicide department delves into the investigation, seeking to piece together the events that led to this tragic outcome.
