Houston authorities are currently investigating a fatal incident that occurred early in the morning at a parking lot on Gessner Road. According to a statement released by the Houston Police Department, the crash took place at approximately 4:50 a.m. on September 13 and resulted in the death of a 48-year-old man, whose identity awaits confirmation from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division indicated that a black Dodge Ram pickup, while traveling eastbound through the parking lot situated at 984 Gessner Road, collided with the pedestrian. Transported by paramedics to Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, the victim was later pronounced dead. Striking the pedestrian was the pickup truck, which was operating by a 24-year-old female who stayed on the scene post-incident.
The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, was questioned by the officers and subsequently released as she did not exhibit signs of intoxication following the collision. Sergeant L. Ross and Officer M. Matthews of HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division are leading the ongoing investigation into the matter, and details are still unfolding as they sift through the evidence.
With the investigation continuing in earnest, Houston police are calling for any potential witnesses to come forward and offer their accounts of the event. Providing over the scene was HPD's crime division, as they issued a public appeal for information that could clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
