According to Mayor John Whitmire's statement obtained by ABC13, "This morning, I was informed by Houston Police Chief Noe Diaz that an officer had been shot while courageously responding to a home invasion. I am relieved to report that the officer has been transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is in stable condition." The mayor further acknowledged the valor of first responders, expressing deep gratitude for their ongoing dedication to community safety. At the time of the break-in, a woman and two children were present in the home, Whitmire said.
