Houston authorities are currently investigating a deadly traffic collision that took place on the 17000 block of the Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) last evening around 9:10 pm. An unidentified male in his 20s tragically lost his life during what appears to be a pedestrian versus vehicle incident, as reported by City of Houston News.
Per the details released by the Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division, the male was not using a crosswalk while attempting to traverse the highway when he was struck by a silver Ford F150. Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer F. Flynn disclosed that the driver, having remained at the scene and showing no signs of impairment, was subsequently questioned and released. An unfortunate aspect of crashes like these often lies in the anonymity of the victims, with identities pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The presence of shared blame in incidents such as this remains a matter of careful consideration. The official reports from the HPD have not indicated any immediate fault by the driver.
