A Hudson woman tragically lost her life and her three daughters sustained serious injuries following a collision with a tractor-trailer in Pasco County, as confirmed by the Florida Highway Patrol. WFLA reports that the accident occurred on Tuesday when the woman, driving a Kia Forte eastbound on SR-52, attempted to turn left at a flashing yellow turn signal, placing her vehicle in the direct path of the west-bound tractor-trailer.
The collision, which took place around 5:24 p.m. near the intersection of Prospect Road, led to both drivers and the woman’s daughters — aged 16, 14, and 13 — being transferred to a local hospital for the treatment of serious injuries, the tractor-trailer driver, a 41-year-old Port Richey man also sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized; the sequence of the events that unfolded was detailed by the ABC Action News.
The victim's identities have not been released by officials as of the latest updates. However, it's reported by Tampa Free Press that the mother driving the Kia was 38 years old; there has been no reported failure in traffic controls at the time of the accident.
Florida Highway Patrol continues to urge drivers to exercise caution especially when approaching flashing signals and intersections.
