Early this morning, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested 37-year-old Lorenzo Beechman of Hyde Park on charges related to firearms, drugs, and motor vehicle offenses. The arrest took place at 287 Washington St, Dorchester, following a routine traffic stop initiated due to an expired vehicle registration. According to the Boston Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:00 AM.
The traffic stop began when officers on patrol spotted Beechman’s vehicle inbound on Washington St. with an expired registration. They activated their lights and stopped the vehicle. Upon approaching and addressing the driver, officers decided to remove him from the car due to several safety concerns. A firearm was then discovered hidden under the passenger side seats. Beechman resisted arrest and attempted to flee on foot but was soon apprehended outside the address.
Detectives arrived later to the scene and confirmed the firearm to be a Smith & Wesson Shield 9EZ 9MM, equipped with a chambered round and a full magazine. Additionally, a small plastic bag containing what appeared to be crack cocaine was retrieved from Beechman's vehicle.
Beechman now faces multiple charges, which include Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Class B Substance, Resisting Arrest, and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle on a Public Way. He is set to be arraigned at the Dorchester District Court, with details of the arraignment yet to be disclosed.
