An underground game room operating on Spring Cypress Road has been shuttered by law enforcement following an investigation into its activities, leading to the seizure of suspected gambling proceeds and several illegal gambling devices. Announced via a Facebook post, deputies from Constable Mark Herman's office acted upon tips from the community, which an undercover probe substantiated, confirming there was ongoing illegal gambling at the location.
Amidst the findings, authorities hauled away roughly $3,000 in cash believed to be from gambling, alongside various types of gambling paraphernalia, and materials that corroborate the operation's illegal activities the search spearheaded through a warrant led not only to the confiscation of gambling-related items but also resulted in criminal charges against one attendant, identified as Wijayarupa, Chamindy Mahadurage, for possession of Gambling Device Paraphernalia.
In a stance against these underhand operations, Herman's message to the public was clear, urging citizens to play a role in rooting out these hubs of illegality by reporting suspicions to the authorities, with assurances of anonymity for tipsters "If you suspect a location of illegal gambling, please contact our dispatch at 281-376-3472 or on-line at www.constablepct4.com/regulatory-enforcement-unit. All complaints or tips can be made anonymously,” according to the statement obtained from the precinct's dispatch.
