The to-and-fro of daily life in Illinois is set for a slight adjustment come Monday morning, as the state's Department of Motor Vehicles adapts to the rhythmic patterns of its customers' needs. NBC Chicago reports that most Illinois DMV locations will change their hours, bowing to data showing higher demand during the early parts of the day.

Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias' office issued a statement emphasizing that the decision was informed by a desire to optimize the DMV experience, "We listened to feedback and analyzed the data to determine when our customers need us most. As a result, we’re adjusting our hours to align our operations with their busy schedules so they can conveniently access services without disrupting their routine," NBC Chicago quotes him as saying. Consequently, during weekdays, most facilities will now welcome patrons from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. instead of the former schedule of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This change, however, does not sweep across all facilities uniformly. Some locations – specifically senior centers in Addison, Bridgeview, Evanston, Calumet Park, and Westchester – will hold fast to their current hours, affirming an opening time from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday as noted by ABC7 Chicago. For those needing to visit on a Saturday, the new hours will shift forward as well, with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. and closing at noon, a half-hour sooner than before.

The full details and an inclusive list of all DMV location hours are now available for public viewing on the Secretary of State's website.
