Novato Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a burglary that occurred at Novato High School last month. Nicholas Tannler, a 34-year-old Inverness resident, was detained late Tuesday night when officers, out on night patrol, spotted his car on Redwood Blvd and found it suspicious enough to investigate further. Having been detained for unrelated crimes initially, Tannler's vehicle was searched, leading to a discovery that linked him to the August 20th incident, according to the Novato Police Department.
Some weeks back, the Novato High School campus was the victim of a burglary that saw not just personal items but also keys to the campus disappear. The School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to the case worked through available leads and witness statements and coordinated with local law enforcement to pinpoint Tannler as a possible suspect.
Evidence gathered from Tannler's car not only firmed up his connection to the burglary but also allowed for the recovery of the stolen campus keys, which have since been returned to the grateful hands of Novato High School.
