
In the early hours of Tuesday, the quiet of Jurupa Valley was shattered by gunfire. Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at approximately 12:03 a.m. in the 2900 block of Rubidoux Boulevard, according to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon their arrival, officers found 37-year-old Avelino Recardo Sanchez suffering from gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were attempted on the scene by deputies and continued as Sanchez was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit has taken on the case, but no suspects have been taken into custody as this remains an active investigation.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has yet to release further information about the surrounding circumstances or potential motives behind the shooting. The investigation to uncover what led to the fatal encounter is ongoing, and local authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
