A suspect attempting to evade law enforcement was brought to heel early this morning thanks in part to constable K9 "Rambo" Tom Ramsey, accompanied by deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office. The Fairfield Garden Grove subdivision on the 20700 block of Durand Oaks Drive had earlier been awash with police presence due to reports of the individual pulling at car doors and trying to purloin a motorcycle.
It was "Rambo", alongside his handler, who managed to finally capture the suspect after a concerted effort that included aerial support from DPS Air Support. Local citizens also played a crucial role, phoning dispatch to report the suspect's whereabouts, actions that were later commended by the Constable's Office. "Thank you to DPS Air Support and all the citizens who called our dispatch with helpful information regarding his latest location and a huge shout out to Constable K9 "Rambo" Tom Ramsey!!" the post on the official Facebook page.
Working dogs like "Rambo" are provided to law enforcement agencies by nonprofits such as K9s4Cops.org, an organization that aims to grant highly trained K9s to departments in need.
