The streets of Kingsport are set for a significant makeover, with the city announcing a $2.5 million street resurfacing project slated to commence this Monday, September 16. The overhaul aims to smooth out the drive for Kingsport residents by revamping key thoroughfares, primarily Moreland Drive. According to the city's official announcement on Kingsport's website, federal MTPO funds are footing the bill for this infrastructural facelift.
Beyond Moreland Drive, the resurfacing reach extends to select segments of Fall Creek Road, Cooks Valley Road, and the Hawkins County portion of Netherland Inn Road, this is set to address some of the more persistent pavement woes reported by motorists. The bidding has been won by Summers Taylor, a name familiar in the realm of construction and asphalt, they will be leading the charge in the reconditioning effort that's expected to be completed by the spring of 2025, as detailed by the City of Kingsport, Tennessee.
