In a incident that stirred Sun Valley residents this afternoon, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a vehicle fire on Laurel Canyon Boulevard. At approximately 12:02 PM, firefighters arrived at the scene of a CNG fueled trash truck engulfed in flames, according to an LAFD alert. The truck, whose ownership remains unconfirmed, was well involved with the fire, posing a threat to nearby residential property.
Firefighters, attempting to quell the blaze, quickly adopted a defensive position. With the aggressive fire threatening a structure, the Los Angeles Police Department was called to establish a safety perimeter of 300 feet around the site for precautionary measures. As reported by LAFD spokesperson Brian Humphrey, "Firefighters are establishing a defensive firefighting posture to extinguish a CNG fueled trash truck (unconfirmed ownership) well involved with fire, with flames threatening one residential structure nearby." There have been no injuries reported in connection with the fire.
Once the fire was reported, emergency services were swiftly on the scene. The LAFD has not yet released information regarding the cause of the fire or the extent of any property damage it may have caused. Established to watch over the safety of residents was the perimeter by LAPD as the firefighters fought the flames. The situation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. No residents were harmed, thankfully, due to the rapid response of the LAFD and LAPD.
