Following a violent confrontation that unfolded in Lake County, Deputy Stefano Gargano has been released from the hospital after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in an ambush attack. As reported by WFTV, the Lake County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Deputy Gargano, who was shot in the abdomen and groin, was discharged a month post the traumatic event that tragically claimed the life of Master Deputy Bradley Link.
The incident stemmed from a disturbance call at a home along Brookside Drive on August 2. Gargano, alongside other deputies, responded to the scene where the ambush occurred. A heavy exchange of gunfire met the deputies as they entered the residence, targeting the individuals believed to be causing the disturbance. This led to Gargano and another deputy being injured, and Link paying the ultimate price, as indicated in a statement reported by ClickOrlando.
Julie Sulpizio, identified by the Lake County sheriff’s Lt. John Harrell as the primary aggressor in the ambush, has since been indicted by a grand jury. As per the charges detailed by officials, Sulpizio faces principal to murder in the first degree of a law enforcement officer, a charge that holds the weight of the state attorney's office seeking the death penalty in her case.
