Lancaster County authorities have arrested Jeffrey Dale Kitchen, 38, after he engaged in a violent domestic dispute and subsequent standoff with sheriff's deputies on Labor Day. According to WBTV, the incident unfolded just after 2 p.m. on Dobys Bridge Road in Indian Land where Kitchen allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during an argument.

Following the altercation, Kitchen's girlfriend was instructed to leave the premises. As per details from a QC News report, deputies arrived to find that Kitchen had secured himself in a bedroom, armed with potentially lethal items including axes, swords, knives, and a shotgun. During the standoff, a single gunshot was fired by Kitchen into a hallway occupied by deputies, no injuries were sustained.

The sheriff's office faced hours of resistance from Kitchen. As noted by WCNC, the standoff dragged on well into the evening. Kitchen's girlfriend, who had been hit multiple times in the back, had called her daughter to extricate her from the situation prior to law enforcement's arrival.

It wasn't until approximately 11 p.m. that deputies were able to bring the situation to a close. Deploying a chemical agent to coax Kitchen out of his barricaded position, they successfully apprehended him. Facing a range of charges, from domestic violence to attempted murder, Kitchen's actions have left a chilling imprint on the local community, "Deputies said they learned Kitchen had several dangerous items in the house including axes, swords, knives, and a possible shotgun." as per statement obtained by QC News.
