
Largo authorities are currently seeking the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a pedestrian on Wednesday night. The Tampa Bay Times reports that the Largo Police Department responded to a call at approximately 9 p.m. at 2650 Roosevelt Boulevard, near U.S. 19. An individual trying to navigate across the street was struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene.
A 2007 Toyota Highlander traveling west on Roosevelt Boulevard struck the victim while they were still in the roadway, causing an additional collision. The second driver stayed on the scene and, according to authorities, showed no signs of impairment. Investigators are now piecing together information about the first vehicle, which departed without stopping, the police reported, as per abc Action News.
Further detailing the tragedy, FOX 13 News mentions that the Largo Police Department's Traffic Homicide Unit is actively looking for the suspect vehicle involved in the initial collision. Local law enforcement urges anyone with information to come forward in an effort to apprehend the responsible party.
