The National Weather Service Las Vegas predicts a respite with temperatures dipping more than 10 degrees following the departure of yesterday's weather system. These cooler climes, a welcome change from the intense heat, are expected throughout the region today. According to a forecast from National Weather Service Las Vegas, while dry conditions will dominate, Northern Esmeralda, Central Nye, and Northern Lincoln counties might encounter partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of light showers.
On Wednesday, temperatures in Las Vegas will rise slightly but remain cooler than usual. This brief warm-up is expected before another cool wave moves in. Later in the week, a weather system coming from the California coast is likely to bring showers and possible thunderstorms, mainly to the north and west of the I-15 corridor. The exact timing and path of this system are still uncertain.
For the weekend, forecasts are uncertain. Saturday could either be dry with a slight warm-up or have lingering showers if the weather system moves slowly. The National Weather Service Las Vegas predicts that by Sunday, high pressure will bring dry weather and normal mid-September temperatures, likely leading to sunny skies to end the weekend.
For flyers, Harry Reid Airport is set to experience clear skies and moderate winds. Winds are expected to be generally light and variable before shifting more northerly later in the afternoon and resuming a southwesterly direction overnight. As reported by National Weather Service Las Vegas, in terms of aviation conditions at regional TAF sites, typical diurnal patterns are the norm except near KDAG which may see gusty westerly winds persisting in the morning and picking up again post-sunset.
Spotters across the region are active and should remain on standby, as the National Weather Service Las Vegas continues to encourage reports of any significant weather phenomena or resulting impacts through their standard operating procedures.
