Leander residents can look forward to a dual relief in their city's infrastructure with the impending completion of a new water tower and the resumption of the San Gabriel Parkway project. Tony Bettis, the city's capital improvements program manager, indicated that the elevated water tank, designed to hold over 1 million gallons, is on track for completion in December, as reported by KVUE.

The project, which had been on pause since February 2023, will resume with the city accepting bids in August and anticipating the contract award by December. "We have a big school and that's, that's another concern because bringing school buses in and out and getting children safely to the school system," Bettis explained the necessity of the project in an interview obtained by KVUE. He also stressed the importance of the police department and fire department, citing the need for an east-west thoroughfare.

According to a recent Community Impact article, the second phase of the San Gabriel Parkway project will ultimately provide a much-needed connection between Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Isaias Drive, alongside offering a new route for the growing Palmera Ridge and Palmera Bluff communities. This link is expected to help alleviate traffic congestion and promote safer travel for residents.
