
On the evening of September 8, an 18-year-old Hailey Farnick from Little Falls, MN, was involved in a traffic incident while operating a scooter on the southbound shoulder of Haven Road; the collision occurred as a 46-year-old local resident, Christopher Plakut, was maneuvering his 2015 Jeep to make a turn onto Riverwood Drive, in the process, striking Farnick who has since been hospitalized with unspecified injuries, details were reported by Morrison County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident unfolded just north of Little Falls in Belle Prairie Township and, noted in the aftermath Farnick was neither donning a helmet nor reflective gear at the time of the accident, this circumstance throws a stark light on the vulnerability of road safety, or the lack thereof, while not absolving driver attentiveness and the pressing need for heightened awareness when maneuvering vehicles of all kinds, the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office has not yet concluded their investigation.
Following the crash, emergency services, including the Little Falls Police Department, MN State Patrol, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance, responded to the scene to tend to the injured and assess the situation; Farnick was promptly transported to St. Gabriel’s Hospital for medical treatment, the extent of her injuries remains undisclosed.
