Los Angeles County 7-Eleven stores have become targets for armed robbers, with two such incidents occurring early Sunday, according to law enforcement officials. The first robbery took place around 12:36 a.m. at a 7-Eleven located at 4800 Temple City Boulevard in Temple City where two Hispanic men, donned in dark clothing and face masks, brandished a handgun to commit the crime, KTLA reports. The second incident, happening just over an hour later and eight miles apart, involved a 7-Eleven on 2700 Huntington Drive in Duarte, with circumstances mirroring those of the first robbery.
In both cases, suspects made off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and thankfully, no injuries were reported. As detailed in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department statement, which was cited by CBS Los Angeles, the suspects in both robberies were described similarly, prompting an investigation to determine if the episodes are linked. Details will become clearer as detectives are set to review surveillance footage from one of the stores on Tuesday.
The LASD did mention that the Duarte store was also victimized a few months prior, in an incident that bore similarities to these latest crimes, hinting at the potential of a recurring threat. Beyond these targeted hold-ups, a 7-Eleven in San Pedro was mobbed by a group believed to be from a nearby street takeover, culminating in the theft of thousands of dollars worth of goods.
