Law enforcement officials have apprehended two suspects reportedly linked to a methamphetamine operation at an abandoned site in New Orleans. According to FOX8, the arrests occurred Friday night at the former Trinity Yachts location on France Road, where approximately one pound of methamphetamine was seized.

The events unfolded swiftly as the New Orleans Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Unit was summoned to thoroughly investigate and to actively assess the scene. The presence of authorities increased significantly when additional support arrived from the New Orleans Police Department’s Bomb Squad, the FBI, and the DEA, hinting at the potential risks that were to quietly unfold at the site.

During the subsequent search of the facility by the Harbor Police, the discovery of an area regarded as the meth lab's components sparked the multi-agency response, indicating the second floor of the two-story building housed the questionable setup. The NOFD has declared this an active incident, as reported by WWLTV.

Moreover, the New Orleans Fire Department spokesperson, Capt. Edwin Holmes, revealed in a written statement obtained by NOLA.com, that upon inspection, their HazMat unit found what appeared to be the workings of a meth lab. Extra fire department personnel were also dispatched to help ensure none need be subjected to contamination.

The situation remains tense as the investigation continues, with law enforcement working to fully secure the site. Updates are expected as the full scope of the operation becomes clearer.
