Plainclothes detectives in the Fineview area discovered a large haul of heroin on Tuesday. According to information released by the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department, officials confirmed that a suitcase filled with suspected narcotics was found on Glenrose Street following a tip from a local citizen.
The discovery, made on September 11, triggered a broader search involving K9 officers who signaled the presence of narcotics in both the suitcase and the backpack. Assisted by arriving patrol officers, the detectives thoroughly examined the area. While imprecisely counted, Pittsburgh Public Safety Department's mobile crime unit processed the scene, later determining the total number of bricks taken into custody to be 4,688.
The drugs have been sent to headquarters for investigation, and Pittsburgh Public Safety says the case is still active, and no arrests have been made yet. Officials are still gathering details about the sources and distribution plans.
