A tragic event unfolded yesterday in Crosby, as a 25-year-old man lost his life after assisting two women who were struggling to stay afloat in the San Jacinto River. The Harris County Sheriff's Office reported that their dive team was dispatched to the scene, located in the 1900 block of Gulf Pump Road, which is part of the Xtreme Off-Road Park.
The young man is said to have bravely entered the water to aid the two women. He was successful in helping them to safety; however, he subsequently went under water himself and did not resurface. "Authorities say the man is believed to be approximately 25 years old," in a somber update conveyed by ABC 13.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office initiated a search operation that stretched for hours. At around 7:15 p.m., Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed that dive teams had tragically recovered the man's body from the river.
