
A 52-year-old man is now in custody following a disturbing incident in Walworth County, where he allegedly attempted to rob a woman of her dog, brandishing a knife to do so. The ordeal took place in the Pioneer Estates mobile home park in Town of Darien, culminating in the suspect's arrest on Thursday, authorities say.
After responding to the scene shortly before 5 p.m., the Walworth County Sheriff's Office advised local residents to remain indoors as the suspect had fled to a residence within the park. As CBS 58 reported, the man had allegedly assaulted a female victim with a knife in his attempt to take her dog. The authorities deployed the Walworth County SWAT Team and a K-9 unit to apprehend the individual.
The Sheriff's Office informed that upon his arrest, the suspect was found to have an outstanding felony warrant for Failure to Appear, which originated from Rockford, Illinois. Following the successful operation involving the SWAT and K-9 units, the man was detained at the Walworth County Jail. This information was corroborated by WMTV 15 News which provided similar details regarding the incident.
The victim, who was reportedly assaulted during the incident, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. "The female victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released," as per a statement obtained by CBS 58.
