A tragic event unfolded near the Las Vegas Strip when a man was killed in a vehicular crash late Friday night, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The accident happened around 10:52 p.m. on East Desert Inn Road, east of Channel Eight Drive. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, through a news release, indicated that the crash involved a 2006 Infiniti G35 and an unidentified SUV.

According to the police department, the Infiniti was traveling at a higher rate of speed, and in an attempt to avoid rear-ending the SUV, swerved and hit the vehicle, this caused the Infiniti to lose control, strike a roadside attenuator, and overturn, resulting in one passenger being ejected from the vehicle. As News 3 Las Vegas conveys, that passenger was pronounced dead at the scene despite the life-saving efforts of paramedics.

The driver and another passenger from the Infiniti were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with moderate to substantial injuries; however, the driver did not show signs of impairment, police said. The involved SUV did not remain at the scene after the collision but was seen fleeing eastbound on Desert Inn.

The LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section’s Fatal Detail is actively conducting inquiries into this incident, urging anyone who might have information to come forward and assist in the investigation, providing contact details for both the police department and Crime Stoppers for those who wish to offer tips anonymously.
