A 28-year-old man lost his life in a horrific incident following an altercation in Southwest Philadelphia. The dispute began at the Sin City Gentleman's Club, near 61st Street and Passyunk Avenue, and escalated into a tragedy when the man was run over by a vehicle. This led to a homicide investigation by the local authorities. FOX29 reports that the altercation involved a couple and a group of men, and after moving outside, the victim was intentionally struck by a driver, before being discovered nearly 100 feet away in a gully.
According to NBC Philadelphia, the police were called to the scene early Saturday morning, where they found the victim unconscious on the road, with the fatal event occurring around 3:20 a.m. Pronounced dead shortly after at 4:04 a.m. at a nearby hospital, the man was apparently involved in a sustained confrontation with the other man, the driver of a white Dodge Durango, who after the argument, accelerated into him.
Different aspects of the incident were captured on nearby surveillance cameras, offering some insight into the events that unfolded. "It looks like that Dodge Durango intentionally rammed the male," Chief Inspector D.F. Pace stated in an interview given to 6abc Action News. A notable detail discovered by investigators at the scene was a gun found next to the victim, although it remains unclear to whom it belonged.
The identity of the victim has not been made public as the investigation continues. Police are seeking information and are reviewing video evidence as they actively pursue leads. Witnesses or individuals with information pertinent to the case are encouraged to come forward and aid in the ongoing investigation. The suspected driver fled the scene in the white Dodge Durango with black trim and tinted windows.
