An early morning altercation in Tampa led to a man being hospitalized after a shooting on North Aster Avenue, the Tampa Police Department confirmed Monday. The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m., according to a report by FOX 13, when authorities responded to the sound of gunfire in the 10000 block of the street.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man suffering from injuries deemed non-life-threatening; he was promptly transported to a local hospital. While the Tampa Police have initiated an extensive search for the person or persons responsible for the shooting, WTSP reports that there's an ongoing investigation and they are urgently asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and contact the Tampa Police Department. The circumstances leading to the shooting appear to stem from a "disturbance" between the injured man and individuals he was said to have known.
According to WFLA, TPD said that there was an argument between two individuals prior to the incident. As of this report, no arrests have been made, and the police have not released the identity of the victim nor description of the suspect or suspects involved.
