On a recent evening in southeast Oklahoma City, the sound of gunfire brought officers rushing to the intersection of Southeast 45th Street and Byers Avenue. The Oklahoma City Police Department, as reported by FOX 25 News, arrived at the scene to find a man with a gunshot wound to his upper thigh. The incident is being classified as an accidental shooting after a weapon and holster were discovered in the victim's possession.
The man, now in stable condition, was transported to OU Medical Center. There did not appear to be other individuals involved in the mishap that resulted, in the male sustaining a gunshot wound. Based on the evidence found, officers believe the injuries were self-inflicted, as echoed by reports from KOCO 5 News.
Further investigation by the authorities revealed that the shooting may have occurred at a different location than where the man was found, as per information obtained by KFOR News 4. The victim was discovered walking around, bleeding from the leg, by police upon their arrival.
There were witnesses nearby when the authorities arrived, who offered insights possibly leading to the conclusion that the shooting was accidental or self-inflicted. As of yet, the victim's current condition remains unreported. In the victim's personal items, a firearm was found, lending further credence to the theory of an accidental discharge.
