Early morning calm was shattered in the Ballston-Virginia Square neighborhood when a shooting left one man wounded and sparked a police investigation. The incident occurred on the 800 block of N. Glebe Road shortly after the day had dawned, at around 6:14 a.m., on September 15, as confirmed by the Arlington County Police Department.
Officers rushed to the scene following reports of an assault with a weapon. They found an adult male victim with gunshot wounds and immediately provided aid, he was then promptly transported to a nearby hospital where he was reported to be stable, as reported by the Arlington County Police Department. During the incident, a robbery unfolded as the man, alongside another male who had both alighted from a vehicle, was accosted by four armed suspects in a bid to seize their possessions.
The assailants, in a calculated effort to intimidate, brandished firearms and made off with jewelry and an undisclosed sum of cash, leaving a trail of fear and bullet casings as they also fired several shots not only injuring the victim but inflicting collateral damage to surrounding businesses and a residential property. The suspects, described succinctly as four Black males clad entirely in black and faces obscured by coverings, vanished from the scene, blending into the break of day in their dark-colored sedan, as detailed by the Arlington County Police Department.
