Washington state authorities are currently engaged in an intensive hunt for an inmate who recently escaped a government building in Tumwater, as reported by FOX 13 Seattle. The Department of Corrections has identified the escapee as 33-year-old Christopher Brinkley, who evaded custody last Friday around noon from the Correctional Industries Headquarters, south of the Olympia Regional Airport.
Brinkley's escape has prompted a joint operation between Department of Corrections staff and local law enforcement officers to scour the area. The man was last spotted wearing a red shirt paired with khaki pants, according to information from a KIRO 7 news report. Efforts to locate him have been underway since his disappearance, with authorities not yet releasing any details on how Brinkley managed to abscond.
Additional context about the situation was provided by KATU, which revealed Brinkley's past conviction in King County on charges of tampering with a witness along with violating a protection order; these crimes placed him within the correctional system, where he was participating in an approved work program at the time of his escape, his scheduled release date was set for June 16, 2026, according to the Department of Corrections press release.
The public has been warned to exercise caution and not approach Brinkley while authorities continue to press on with the search. No conclusive sightings of the escaped inmate have been reported at this time. As law enforcement works expeditiously to apprehend him, the community is urged to remain vigilant and to report any information that might contribute to his capture.
