Florida authorities have launched a manhunt for an individual accused of fraudulently practicing medicine. Juan Carlos Ignacio Munoz Melgar, who was busted last November for masquerading as a doctor, is believed to be illegally treating patients once more. As reported by Click Orlando, the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI) of Orlando disclosed that Munoz Melgar had presented himself as a licensed medical practitioner, complete with an office at 11301 S. Orange Blossom Trail Suite 209 in Orlando. The MBI has emphasized that practicing medicine without a license poses a risk of substandard or detrimental care to the community.
After his initial arrest, Munoz Melgar was released on bond, prompting authorities to believe that he would not continue to potentially place the public in harm's way. However, MBI recently received a tip indicating otherwise. Details from FOX 35 Orlando noted that Munoz Melgar allegedly resumed his unlawful medical practice from a residence in St. Cloud. An arrest warrant has been issued on the same two charges as before, with an additional charge for practicing a healthcare profession without a valid Florida license.
The MBI has urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Munoz Melgar to promptly get in touch with local law enforcement or to call CrimeLine at 1-800-423-TIPS. As the case unfolds, further updates are expected to be released.
