
After several months of investigation following a shooting incident in Baltimore's Central District, the suspect has been brought into custody. According to a post by the Baltimore Police, 21-year-old Jonathan Lopez from Martinsburg, West Virginia, is now facing charges of attempted first-degree murder.

In reference to the shooting of a 32-year-old male in the 200 block of South Broadway, back on August 5, 2023, investigators have arrested 21-year-old Jonathan Lopez of Martinsburg, West Virginia.

The incident in question took place on August 5, 2023, when a 32-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 200 block of South Broadway. The Baltimore Police Department obtained video footage leading to Lopez's suspect identification. With assistance from the Martinsburg Police Department, Baltimore detectives were able to cross-reference and positively identify Lopez as the shooter.
Lopez was initially arrested in Martinsburg on unrelated charges on December 7, 2023. He was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility in Baltimore on September 18 after extradition. Bound by the severity of the charges, he is currently being held without bail. The victim of the shooting, who had sustained a non-life-threatening injury, was treated at an area hospital and has since recovered.
