A video capturing a large alligator strolling across a Surf City road has quickly garnered attention. According to footage taken by a local observer, the reptile can be seen deliberately making its way across a neighborhood street. Johnny Fins, the person recording, can to hardly contain his amazement at the sight, as stated in a video obtained by WBTV, exclaiming "Good golly, that is the king of the jungle right here," and "Or at the very least the king of the neighborhood, you get me?"
In North Carolina, encountering alligators is not unusual. The North Carolina Wildlife Federation has reminded people of state laws against feeding, touching, harassing, harming, or poaching alligators. They advise staying alert in areas where alligators might be present, keeping pets on a leash during walks, and properly disposing of food to avoid attracting alligators, as reported by Alaska News Source.
Having alligators nearby reminds us of nature's closeness. By following safety guidelines, both people and alligators can coexist peacefully. Residents should follow the advice from authorities and wildlife experts to ensure safety for everyone.
