Massive Cache of Illegal Firearms and Ammo Seized in Solano County Following Davis Police InvestigationSource: City of Davis Police Department

The Davis Police Department's Intelligence-Led Policing Team recently uncovered a vast collection of unlawful weapons and ammunition. Following an event on August 8 that began with the arrest of a woman for possession of fentanyl and a loaded firearm in downtown Davis, an extensive investigation eventually led to the seizure of a large arsenal in Solano County.

According to FOX40, authorities arrested Chelsea Franklin, originally found with the prohibited possessions in a parking garage, sparking the probe that unveiled a deeper web of illicit activities. Franklin's interaction with officers in that Garage on 101 F Street laid bare the arms of a clandestine operation.

The Davis Police followed threads from Franklin to a residence in Suisun City. With support from the state Department of Justice Fentanyl Enforcement Program, a search warrant executed on September 10 unearthed 73 illegal firearms, ranging from pistols to rifles and shotguns. In addition to this, detectives discovered more than 25,000 rounds of ammunition, along with narcotics. Justin Sharp, a 45-year-old resident of Suisun City, has been associated with these findings and is currently facing multiple charges, as reported by The Davis Enterprise.

Lt. Dan Beckwith shed light on the department's ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal weapons, revealing a harrowing tally for the year. "On Aug. 8, when officers performing extra patrols at the 101 F St. parking garage made contact with three people with open alcohol containers near a recently vandalized area," Beckwith told The Davis Enterprise
