
A tragic turn of events unfolded on Interstate 271 in Beachwood last Sunday, where a three-car crash involving a tractor-trailer resulted in the death of a 40-year-old Mayfield Heights man.
The Beachwood Police Department shared that the incident occurred late at night, around 10:50 p.m., on I-271 southbound between Chagrin Boulevard and Harvard Road. First, a vehicle was involved in a crash in the local lanes before spiraling into the express lanes, where it met with a devastating collision with the tractor-trailer, as reported by FOX8.
Responders were on-site shortly after being dispatched to provide immediate assistance. The 40-year-old was quickly transported to the hospital following the crash and was pronounced dead after that, according to details from a Cleveland19 News release.
Additional information revealed that the two other drivers involved were treated for their injuries at the scene and were subsequently released. The investigation into the exact cause of this tragic accident continues. It is spearheaded by the Eastside Departments Group Enforcement (EDGE) Accident Investigation Unit.
