A woman lost her life to gunfire early Saturday morning, a tragedy that took place in McKeesport. Tammy Cox, 51, was the victim identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner following a shooting incident reported at the 40 block of Crawford Village, as per WPXI.
Suspect Robert Cox, aged 50, has now been charged with criminal homicide in connection with the shooting. Initially, he had reportedly called 911 at around 5 a.m. to claim that people outside the home were indiscriminately shooting and mistakenly hit his wife. Unexpectedly changing his story, Robert then purported to tell the arresting officers that Tammy had taken her own life upon their arrival at the crime scene.
However, before her death, Tammy Cox managed to inform police officers that Robert Cox was the one behind the trigger, a statement that glaringly contradicts the man's initial claims. As detailed by WTAE, police detained Robert Cox and took him to the police station for questioning while Tammy was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Evidence from the scene includes a shotgun and two handguns, which were swiftly taken into custody by law enforcement officials. Additionally, surveillance footage gathered by authorities provided an audio recording of what they say appears to be a single gunshot fired at 5:05 a.m. Robert Cox is currently held at the Allegheny County Jail while awaiting arraignment.
