The Memphis Police Department is currently on the search for two suspects involved in the theft of a 2020 maroon Chevrolet Corvette and a 2010 white Cadillac CTS, along with a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on Interstate 55. According to Action News 5, the incident took place in West Memphis last week and resulted in the death of a construction worker, Justin Delgado, 36, and critically injured another.

Authorities have revealed that the Corvette was stopped by West Memphis police on the evening of Wednesday, September 18, for a traffic violation. However, the vehicle, then engaged in a high-speed pursuit initiated on East Broadway Avenue, leading into a construction zone on I-55 South where the two workers were struck. As reported by Memphis Police Department’s Facebook page, the suspects involved in this tragic event were recorded at a convenience store before the incident, having taken the vehicles from the 1500 block of Patton Street in Memphis shortly before the crash.

The hit-and-run suspect’s car, found engulfed in flames on West McKeller Avenue by Memphis Police later that evening, has been identified as the stolen Corvette. In the words of the Arkansas State Police and reiterated by FOX13 Memphis, "That vehicle sped away from police, speeding into a construction zone on I-55 before crashing into and killing 36-year-old Justin Delgado." Another contracted ARDOT worker was also hit and critically injured during the pursuit.

Memphis Police are urging anyone with information about the suspects, whose photos they have released, to contact Crime Stoppers. In a plea for public assistance, the suspects’ likenesses have been widely disseminated with hopes that citizens can aid in bringing them to justice. "If you have any idea who those people are," MPD urged, as told by FOX13 Memphis, "MPD urged you to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-2274." Tips leading to an arrest may result in a financial reward from Crime Stoppers of Memphis and Shelby County, Inc.
