Metropolitan Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of Maryland Man in Northwest DC, Seek Community Help

The Metropolitan Police Department is looking into a deadly shooting incident that left one man dead in the northwest area of the city. A call reporting the shooting brought officers to the 1700 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest, yesterday morning.

At about 4:36 a.m., authorities arrived at the scene to discover an unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel from DC Fire and EMS were called in, and they pronounced the individual deceased after finding, no signs indicating life were present. The victim was later identified by the authorities as Ifeanyi Maximus, a 35-year-old resident of Bladensburg, MD, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
