Sea-inspired melodies will take center stage at the upcoming concert by The Metropolitan Winds, as the ensemble presents "A Whale of a Band Concert." According to the City of Lewisville, this aquatic adventure into the world of music is scheduled for Saturday, September 14, at 3 p.m., setting sail at the Lewisville Grand Theater at 100 N. Charles Street.
Among the highlights is the world premiere of “Whaling Songs,” masterfully composed by Met Winds member Bret Newton. Attendees will also be treated to works by John Williams with "HOOK" and other selections like “Sailing with Whales” by Rossano Galante, “Sea Songs” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, along with several marches that might make you feel the deck beneath your feet.
The Metropolitan Winds has been a cultural keystone for over 30 years, dedicated to promoting the Arts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Their performances strive to offer enriching experiences that educate and entertain, drawing from an ensemble of skilled musicians who elevate the wind band repertoire. Supported in part by a City of Lewisville Arts Project Grant, the concert represents a commitment to arts access and community engagement.

From Interstate 35E, attendees can direct their course by taking exit 452 and continuing east on Main Street until they reach Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left, with free public parking available. But beware, as the State of Texas is casting a wide net with roadway construction at Main Street and I-35E.
